Rainier Avenue Radio Is YOUR South Seattle community radio station and digital media hub.

We are proud to serve Seattle and surrounding communities with opportunities to engage with critical issues, compelling stories and quality entertainment. You'll hear a range of music; sports; regional traffic; local & national news; happenings around greater Seattle; and talk shows including political, current events, diverse languages, and children's programming created BY members of our communities…and we'll continue to broadcast "live" FROM our communities.

Tony Benton
Station Manager

Tony B. has been heard over the airwaves on several different radio stations in the Seattle-Tacoma region.  Whether he was hosting community affairs shows, like KUBE 93’s “StreetBeat,” or covering sports topics on SportsRadio KJR AM’s “Get in the Game,” Tony’s shows are known for being open, honest and thought-provoking.

 

He has received several awards for his contributions to music, youth and community organizations, in addition to serving on boards of organizations such as Thrive by Five Washington, Seattle Public High Schools Radio/TV Advisory Committee, the Northwest chapter of NARAS, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, and Crosscut.com.

 

Tony is a founder and Station Manager of Rainier Avenue Radio, super-serving communities of Southeast Seattle.  Rainier Avenue Radio broadcasts 24 hours a day-seven days a week amplifying the diverse narratives and voices of Southeast Seattle’s communities.  Tony is also the founder and Director of the Creative Arts Digital Media Academy.

A University of Washington alumnus, Rick is a 10-year talk radio veteran. Rick’s radio career started as the executive producer of the original sports talk radio show on KJR, “Callin’ All Sports in 1989. His 8-year career at KJR included co-hosting multiple shows and serving as pre-game reporter for KJR’s coverage of Husky Football.

Rick was also the narrator of FOX Sports Northwest’s Emmy Award-winning Washington Football Experience weekly television show, and on-air host of the network’s Husky Football Dawg Days of Spring television special. Rick is currently the Director of Community Partnerships at Seattle Academy (SAAS).

D Money started his career as a student DJ at KCWU 88.1 FM hosting a rotation show before taking over the station's long- running Burg Beats while winning awards for best personality and specialty show.

 

He brought a new focus to the show of showcasing newly released quality hip hop & r&b before other outlets began spinning them eventually impressing a guest of his and earning him his management role at Juice Radio along with the re-imaging of Burg Beats into what we know today as #FreshJuice.

James Gerde is a Northwest native raised in Edmonds. He's an emerging music photographer with skills ranging from audio production to videography.  James is also a musician and writer, hoping to grow his knowledge of the arts. You can see him behind the scenes at many RainierAvenueRadio.world sports broadcasts and community events.  He also hosts the Rainier Avenue Radio show After Dark.

Deedric is a proud Seattle native, born and raised current RV resident.  Creative Arts Digital Media (CADMA) Lead Instructor. Journalism, Adult Computer Literacy, Photography, Audio Visual Production, Blogging and Website Creation are just samples of our ever-expanding Curriculum.  Courses available in junior and senior high schools and in our offices on an individual or group basis.

Tyrone and Yvette are well recognized in the south Seattle community as active volunteers through their outreach for their non-profit organization "God Is" and can be seen at Rainier Beach and Emerson Schools as well as at community events.  Tyrone also is a DJ and produces the"God Is Inspiration" gospel music show on RainierAvenueRadio.world, while they co-host the talk show "God Is" to highlight community work of our neighbors.

Paul is a music journalist, musician, and producer/host of the R&B retro show Star Time. Paul's writing has appeared in The Stranger, The Seattle Times and The OlympianHe's currently a regular contributor to the music site Treblezine.com, and co-hosts the podcast Talking About Thinking About Music. He graduated from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, where he served as music director and a variety music show producer for community radio station KAOS. He's also worked in music marketing, website content creation, and artist interviews. In addition to Star Time, Paul produces the freeform music show Status Update: and other mixtapes on the Mixcloud platform. After living in Columbia City with his family for 10 years, Paul currently resides in the greater Olympia area.

Originally from Chicago, John has been a resident of Seattle and active in our community for over 40 years.  He is currently active with civil rights organizations The MLK Celebration Committee and the WA State Civil Rights Coalition. John is a former candidate for the Seattle School Board, and coached youth football & basketball for Cleveland, Nathan Hale, Garfield, and Franklin High Schools as well as the Central Area Youth Association.

The DGTL aka Jacob Hillard, studied at Berklee College of Music and is a talented sax player, who has evolved into an in-demand music producer for hip hop artists in the region.  He supports RainierAvenueRadio by producing music backgrounds and imaging.
